Construction robots build homes

By the beginning of 2006 Professor Berock Coshnevis, California, beliefs to get a bungalow constructed. To put it precisely, the house will be constructed by robot without any human help. On February 16, 2005 it was announced that Professor has invented the machine, which under pours constructing vertical walls as soon as it receives instructions in a form of computerized architectural drawings. Its computer-guided spout extrudes concrete in a way tooth-paste gets out of the tube. A couple of scoops are attached to the spout to smooth the concrete and pouring is repeated until programmed height is reached.

The robot is able to work on the 24 hour basis without interruption. For its work it requires only power supply and constant supply of semisolid construction materials. Later on it would be able not only to construct walls but also to lay pipes and electric wiring. Perhaps, the only it fails to perform is to fix doors and windows, though the scientist considers these jobs so easy and quick to complete that according to him they don’t require automation.

The first tasks completed by construction robot are aimed to use for cheap housing in the city’s old districts. Nevertheless, the technology has already piqued the interest of the military and even the NASA. Though Coshnevis yet uses concrete for his purposes, slush and dry thatch could also suit. The largest supplier of construction materials in the world Degussa, Düsseldorf is searching for a the best construction material matching the robot.
