A strong earthquake hit China's south-west, Ludian county in Yunnan province, killing at least five people, injuring more than 400, and forcing the evacuation of 50,000 people, according to officials and state media.
It’s the third earthquake this year which strikes Ludian, one of the poorest areas in China with about 370,000 people.
The quake measured 5.6 on the Richter scale and ruined almost 5,000 mud houses.
Luckily, the earthquake occurred at the time when most people were outside their houses, so not so many of them were buried.
All injured are in hospital receiving treatment.
The region is one of the most earthquake prone zones in China.
