Habitat of Pamlico County's will announce the first homeowner in September. Applicants are to meet four criteria: residency, need, willingness to partner with Habitat and ability to pay for their homes. About 150 residents provided the Pamlico chapter with volunteer and donor information. Construction site on Water Street in Bayboro already has an access drive provided by donated labor from area construction companies, and a construction crew is ready to begin work on a site. Taking into consideration external circumstances, the county's first Habitat house could be built in 6 months.
